Frequently Asked Questions
Is an EMC different than an LED?
EMCs or Electronic Message centers are defined as signs that are capable of displaying words, symbols, figures, or images that can be electronically changed by remote or automatic means. An EMC uses LED light-bulbs to display it’s words, symbols, figures, or images.
How long should an LED display last?
LEDs are rated for 100,000 hours of use at full brightness.
What is Resolution?
Resolution is the number of pixels in a display. While a matrix is the number of led pixels tall by led pixels wide of a given area, the resolution is the total number of pixels in a single display. The higher the number of pixels the higher the resolution, the higher the resolution, the sharper images can be displayed.
What does “matrix” mean?
When we refer to the matrix of LED signs we are referring to the number of LED pixels tall by the number of LED pixels wide. The more pixels in a given area, the larger the matrix.
What does Pixel Pitch refer to?
Pixel pitch is the distance from the center of one pixel to the center of the next. Pixel pitch influences the resolution of an LED display that shows images. Longer distances require less resolution and shorter distances require higher resolution.
In other words: Low pixel pitch = sharper image
What Are Pixels?
In digital imaging, pixels refer to the single most smallest unit of an image that can be represented or controlled.
What is an LED?
An LED (LED Lightbulb) is a solid- state lamp that uses light-emitting diodes as the source of light, hence why they are referred to as LED. Since the light output of individual light-emitting diodes is small compared to incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps, multiple diodes are often used together.
